Important Update Regarding Support for Legacy Modra Sampling Equipment - May 2026

As part of Modra’s ongoing commitment to providing reliable, long-term support for its customers, we regularly review the components and technologies used across our equipment range.

Due to the discontinuation of several critical third-party control components, Modra is gradually phasing out full support and spare parts availability for selected older Kibby and Mtuft machines.

Affected equipment includes:

Kibby machines – Models MK1, MK2, MK3, and G4

  • On the Kibby MK 1, 2 and 3 machines, the motherboard & Servo card are now obsolete and no longer available.
  • On the Kibby G4 machine, the Nextmove controller is obsolete and no longer available.
  • Modra will continue to provide support on a best-efforts basis where possible.
  • Consumables and non-critical spare parts, such as needles, grippers, and related items, will continue to be available.
Mtuft machines – Model equipped with the Baldor control system
  • The Baldor Nextmove e100 is now obsolete and no longer available through normal supply channels.
  • Lead times for the Baldor/ABB motor have increased significantly.
  • Consumables and non-critical spare parts, such as needles, hooks, and knives, will continue to be available.
  • Modra will continue to provide support on a best-efforts basis where possible.
What this means for you

Many of these machines have provided decades of reliable service and, in many cases, will continue operating successfully for years to come. However, as critical legacy components become increasingly difficult to source, some repairs may no longer be possible in the event of certain failures.

To help you plan ahead and minimise future downtime risk, Modra is offering assistance in evaluating transition options where appropriate.
